Flaws

Note: This was yesterday’s post. It wound up on my old, defunct blog.

All human beings are fundamentally flawed. Even me. It has been the focal point for many movie plots including The World’s End. Even the Bible states, “For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.”

So what do we do with that? Do we embrace our flaws? No, for then we fail at the endeavor of self-improvement. Do we loathe our flaws? Oh, please. With all of that wallowing, who would get anything done?

We must learn to accept our flaws, learn from them, ask forgiveness, and move on. Flaws are a part of life. Not a part we enjoy, but inevitable nonetheless. We are functional, but inherently imperfect.

The pursuit of perfection is a madding task that will ruin all who attempt. The pursuit of betterment on the other hand is ideal.

As dad used to say, “Never make the same mistake twice, it shows a lack of imagination.”
